Eligibility Criteria for Specialist Officer Recruitment

All candidates must check their eligibility before applying for the post that they are eligible for the post or not. Eligibility Criteria of SO Exam covers participant education qualification, age criteria, etc. Qualification standard different for every post checks it.
For IT Officer (Scale I) :- Candidate must have completed 4 year Engineering Degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications/ Information Technology / Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunications / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation OR  Post Graduate Degree in Electronics / Electronics & Tele Communication / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation / Computer Science / Information Technology/ Computer Applications OR Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level.
For Agricultural Field Officer (Scale I): Candidate must have completed 4 year Degree (graduation) in Agriculture / Horticulture /Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Science / Dairy Science / Agriculture Engineering / Fishery Science/ Pisciculture / Agri Marketing & Cooperation / Co-operation & Banking/ Agro-Forestry.
For Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale I): Candidates must have Post Graduate Degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree (graduation) level OR Post graduate degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the degree (graduation) level.
For Law Officer (Scale I): A Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council.
For HR/Personnel Officer (Scale I): Graduate and Regular Post Graduate degree or Regular Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management / Industrial Relations/ HR/HRD/ Social Work / Labour Law.
For Marketing Officer (Scale I): Graduate and Full-time MBA (Marketing) / Full time two years PGDBA/ PGDBM with specialization in Marketing.
With the advancement in technology coupled with new Banking products and services, there is a dire need of specialized man power in the banking system, who can handle them in a better way. Thus increase the business of bank efficiently.
Below we are discussing the roles and responsibilities of these Specialist Officer one by one:

Role of IT Officer:

1. An IT Officer provides end-to-end support for Bank's core banking system.
2. She/he is responsible for management of various sub-systems like ATM, Kiosks, Mobile Banking and internet Banking, Networking etc.
3. She/he develops new software or modifying the Bank's existing software.
4. With cyber-crime witnessing a rise, IT officers are responsible for looking after the Bank Network Security and Anti-Virus update. In cases of fraud or any incidence of a breach in the Bank's internal security, IT officers are called for important inquiries.
Overall IT Officer looks after the technological perspectives of Banking Operations.

Role of Marketing Officer:

1. She/he takes care of all the marketing and promotional activities in a given state/region or nationwide.
2. Marketing team is responsible for conceptualizing and design of advertisements, taking the banks message to masses.
3. Marketing Officer co-ordinates with advertisement agencies in order to draft various forms of communication.
4. She/he develops various marketing strategies and plans to boost up sales and profits.
5. Marketing Officer is also required to search for new services and Products of the Banks.

Role of HR Officer

1. As an HR Officer, one handles the training and induction of new employees; circulate appraisal forms, form leave schedules, creation of salary accounts etc.
2. After few years of experience, he/she conducts recruitment interviews, address labor laws, employee promotions and other critical human resource related activities.
3. They also manage industrial relations, performance and promotion Policy.

Role of Agricultural Field Officer (AFO)

1. AFO promote banks’ loan products in rural areas, particularly among farmers.
2. AFO meets and maintain good relationship with farmers and thereby generate Leads
3. They conduct pre-loan sanction inspection.
4. They follow up in case of recovery of loans.
5. They also ensure the proper recovery of loan and getting the acknowledgement of debt (AOD)

Role of Law Officer

1. They deal with documentation work within a bank.
2. They check the sanctions imposed by the bank and make sure all the relevant documents are executed.
3. In case of any litigation, banks are represented by practicing lawyers which are guided by law officers of the bank.

Role of Rajbhasha Adhikari


A Rajbhasha Adhikari or an Official Language Officer in a bank is the official who is responsible for using the official language of the country i.e. Hindi as much as possible in banking operations like in circulars, notices, etc.,The Officer should supposed to well verse in Hindi and Sanskrit so that the use of language is not neglected in the day to day operations in banks.
The main responsibility of the officer include the following:
  1. Translation of Documents in Hindi
  2. Arranging Training Programmes
  3. Promotion of Official Language
